The Story
The fascinating history of Marquise diamond dated back to 1745, when King Louis XV commissioned his court jeweller to create a diamond that resembled the smile of his beautiful mistress, the Marchioness Madame de Pompadour. A well-educated and intellectual woman who exerted strong political opinions on the French court.
To capture the alluring smile of contemporary women, Marquissimo was created, and for purposes so much more than just adornment; it is a symbol of authority, symbol of promises, and even legally binding signatures. Marquissimo, a patented design ingeniously blends a pair of marquise diamonds together with two beautifully matched princess-cut diamonds in Aaron Shum’s signature prongless setting, delivering a striking presentation of a grand marquise-shaped solitaire.
The Look
The brand name “Marquissimo” is a neologism which combines the name of the cut “Marquise” with the Italian suffix “-issimo”, defining the grandiose solitaire marquise look achieved by our artisans. With around 1/3 of the carat weight, Marquissimo achieves the look of a 1-carat diamond, which is a perfect extension of the affordable luxury sensation pioneered by the company’s flagship brand Coronet as well as beloved brand Princess Rose.
From everyday wear items to grand show piece, each product within the Marquissimo collection is carefully crafted by selecting a matching pair of perfectly proportioned marquise diamonds and a pair of special-cut diamonds to accomplish symmetry, an essential characteristic of a high quality Marquise cut diamond. Marquissimo’s elongated shape is inherently flattering and can make the finger of the wearer appear longer and slimmer.
