AIRTEC 2009 strengthened its profile as supply fair for the aerospace industry: Positive international response to the trade exhibition, b2b-meetings, specialist conferences, workshops and live demonstrations

The 4th AIRTEC, International Aerospace Supply Fair, that took place November 3 – 5, 2009 at the Exhibition Center Frankfurt, Germany, proved to be an event of very high quality. During three days almost 2500 high-quality trade visitors ob-tained a very good insight in the manifold exhibition offerings. More than 335 ex-hibitors and participants in the b2b platform convinced through their innovative range of performances and know how.
Despite the travel restrictions in many companies, the percentage of trade visitors from abroad could be notably increased to 19.7 % compared to last year. Also the strong presence of 66 press representatives coming from Germany and abroad was significant.
The b2b platform in which high level representatives from Boeing, Diehl Aero-space, Embraer or Thales participated received a very positive response. The exhibitors who actively participated in the b2b meetings were highly satisfied. Targeted contacts and appointments that have been arranged with OEMs and system suppliers prior to the event are an important aspect. The result confirms the concept of the b2b meetings to serve as extended sales force of the exhibi-tors.
4th International Conference „Supply on the wings“
The 4th International Conference „Supply on the wings” chaired by Prof. Richard Degenhardt from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Private University of Applied Sciences (PFH) Göttingen convinced with high-quality lectures. Also the variety of topics and the balance between science and industry were emphasised positively by the attendees and speakers. The programme comprised 78 lectures, the speakers and attendees came from 17 countries.
Workshop „How to become a supplier for the aerospace industry“
The workshop „How to become a supplier for the aerospace industry“ with 338 attendees, among them a considerable percentage of participants coming from abroad, celebrated a very successful premiere. Including companies from the automotive industry, but also companies from other sectors of industry who have taken the aerospace industry into their focus, were very interested. Due to the great response a repeat of the workshop and a second workshop is planned.
At the theme park HELI World that took place for the first time renowned interna-tional exhibitors like Russian Helicopters already exhibited at the successful pre-miere. The conference „Working on Fire“ with their high level conference contri-butions spanned a thematic bridge to the UAV sector. During the outdoor events, an impressive live demonstration, showing the extinguishing of a fire with a heli-copter Bell 205 operated by the company Agrarflug Helilift GmbH & Co. KG took place as well as the abseiling of a rescue dog team from a helicopter Eurocopter SA 365 operated by the company Heli-Flight GmbH & Co. KG. Four helicopters among them a SAR helicopter Bell UH-1D and a Sikorsky CH 53, the largest helicopter of the German Armed Forces landed at the outdoor area P11 on Wednesday, November 11 and could be visited. The company Youngcopter who presented its helicopter new development NEOin the indoor area of the Portal-haus received great interest.
The theme park UAV World has became a very well-established international meeting place for the sector. The UAV conference demonstrated its very high quality and presented also, among other topics, with the monitoring and surveil-lance of forest areas the increasing importance of UAVs for civil use. The pres-ence of the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) that exhibited with manufacturers and suppliers was a special highlight. The UAVs that were shown at UAV World are not only used for protection of the population in crisis regions, but also for the police, border security, forest fire fighting and fighting against bark beetles. For the first time in the outdoor area a live demon-stration of a helicopter UAV provided by the company Swiss UAV and distributed by the company EMT Penzberg took place.
Outlook for AIRTEC 2010
Due to the good response to the entire event and the positive atmosphere in the new exhibition location Portalhaus of Hall 11, AIRTEC 2010, taking place No-vember 2 – 4, 2010 at the Exhibition Center Frankfurt, Germany, will again see a growth. A stronger presence of joint stands not only from Germany but also from abroad, for which inquiries were already received, should contribute to this. Also an extension of the theme parks, for example of the UAV World is planned that should demonstrate with new technologies the variety of use and applications in civil areas. Also planned is the further development of HELI World with new high-lights and special applications of helicopters like extinguishing fire, ambulance and rescue. For this, helicopter static displays for different topics are planned in the outdoor area.
Furthermore, an expansion of the b2b meetings providing special tools and with an even higher participation of buyers, supply chain managers, programme and project managers as well as developers and skilled personnel from technics and technology fields are planned. The organiser of AIRTEC 2010, airtec GmbH & Co. KG, will further develop its profile as service provider for the success and customer satisfaction of exhibitors and trade visitors by providing services like workshops and other special events.
