Around 55,000 people experienced the wide variety of holidays, caravaning, outdoor activities and culinary delights during the five-day exhibition
Over a period of five days everything revolved around tourism, caravaning, outdoor activities and culinary delights at the Leipzig Trade Fair Center. Around 55,000 visitors experienced the wide range of offers at Touristik & Caravaning Leipzig (TC Leipzig). Whether on wheels, by air, by ship or on foot, TC Leipzig featured a wide selection of all types of holiday to suit every taste and every budget. Around 450 exhibitors presented their products and answered visitors' questions.
TC Leipzig brings people together
"A holiday exhibition is the ideal place to find inspirations for your next trip, test the seats or mattresses in caravans, and obtain information about activities during your next holiday," said Guido von Vacano, Executive Vice President of Messe Stuttgart. Messe Stuttgart is the organiser of TC Leipzig. Martin Buhl-Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of Messe Leipzig, concurred. He, too, always looks forward to the event: "Holidays are simply a topic which motivates and brings people together. There was a special atmosphere in the exhibition halls. We are already looking forward to next year when TC will be staged again at Messe Leipzig."
Three quarters of visitors were interested in the caravaning halls. The corresponding figure for the tourism section was almost 50 per cent. According to the survey conducted among visitors, TC Leipzig was awarded the school mark 1.8. 95 per cent of respondents said that they wanted to come back again next year – and then perhaps with friends. That's because 97 per cent of visitors said they would recommend the exhibition to other people. 93 per cent of visitors rated the exhibition programme of TC Leipzig as complete.
73 people honoured for their engagement in tourism
One special highlight of the exhibition was the presentation of the awards to the Saxony Tourism Heroes in 2023. From now on, 73 people are entitled to call themselves Tourism Heroes in Saxony. They received their certificate during a presentation ceremony at TC Leipzig. Barbara Klepsch, the State Minister for Culture and Tourism in Saxony, emphasised: "Tourism could not be any more diverse and our Tourism Heroes represent precisely that fact. They are good examples of the many industries and people who promote tourism every day."
Holiday destinations from near and far
Exciting talks and interesting exhibition stands took visitors on a journey around the world in Hall 4. Representatives of travel agencies, airlines, shipping companies, countries, etc. focused on both international and regional holiday trends at the exhibition. On the stand of Canada Dream Tours Manuela Wagner transported visitors to the vast expanses of Canada. "Visitors were interested in both camper trips through the wilderness and cruises to Alaska or train journeys through eastern Canada," said the Managing Director of Canada Dream Tours. She is planning to definitely come back to the next TC Leipzig. "There were two of us on the stand and we were always extremely busy," said Manuela Wagner with a smile.
Regions in Germany were also in great demand. There was a lot of activity on the stand of the Chemnitz/Zwickau region. Marketing Manager Julia Schaller commented: "Our triad is: industry meets culture, meets nature – and that went down very well here. There was great demand for our family offers and camping. As the European Capital of Culture in 2025, Chemnitz was also interesting for many visitors. We can look back on some excellent discussions."
Great interest in the caravaning section
It was clear at TC Leipzig that there is more demand than ever for recreational vehicles, box vans and caravans. Holger Schulz, Managing Director of Hobby, also noticed this development. "Visitors were interested in a wide range of recreational vehicles. Everything was in demand on our stand: from large to small RVs, and from cheap to slightly more luxurious models. We were very satisfied with the great response that we experienced here in Leipzig."
The accessories section was also very popular this year. Ralf Torresin from Camping-Kaufhaus commented: "On our stand we presented everything from barrier tape through to a two-burner hob. We noticed this year that visitors were focusing on sustainable camping products." Although Camping-Kaufhaus took part in TC Leipzig for the first time, the Sales Manager is already certain: "It was a great experience here to see many customers and hold a large number of first-class discussions. We will definitely come back again." Bloggers met in the Vans & Friends Lounge in order to talk about upgrading their recreational vehicles and present their everyday life in a van.
Testing and obtaining information in the outdoor area
Get on your bike and enjoy nature was the motto in Hall 4. A large number of companies presented innovations from the cycling and outdoor area, and provided information on the related equipment. It was possible to test different bikes on the cycling parcours and the children's pump track. Stefan Nolke, Managing Director of the online shop FahrradGiganten, was satisfied with his company's participation in the exhibition and saw a clear trend among his visitors. "There was great demand – in relation to caravaning – for folding bikes and e-folding bikes," he said. Olaf Voigt, Head of the Magdeburg E-Bike Center, can now already say: "We will be back again next year. The visitors were very relaxed. We really felt at home here in Leipzig." In particular, his range of e-bikes attracted interested people to his firm's exhibition stand.
The cycling section at TC Leipzig featured more than just the pump track for children. Bjarne Böse, an employee at coolmobility, presented different children's bikes together with his team. He also brought dog trailers and cargo bikes along to the exhibition. "We met the right target group at TC Leipzig and our customers were highly motivated," he said retrospectively. Clemens Kircher, the founder of Iumentum, also showed visitors how practical cargo bikes are. "We had five fantastic exhibition days with interested visitors ranging from cargo bike newcomers through to genuine enthusiasts. I am certain that we were able to make many people happy."
Culinary delights from near and far
Producers took visitors on a journey for all the senses in the Glass Hall. Whether unusual dumpling variations, delicious types of cheese and sausage, or oriental spices, everyone was able to find something during this culinary journey ("GenussReise"). On the stand of Stefanie Zaiss, Managing Director of the Zaiss vineyard, visitors had the opportunity to taste different wine and sparkling wine specialities. She looked back on some excellent discussions: "Visitors were also primarily interested in knowing whether we cultivate our grapes ourselves and operate regionally. We forged a very large number of contacts."
Anyone who loves cheese was in exactly the right place on the Swiss stand of Tête de Moine. Hans-Rudolf Schmid, a company employee, said the following: "A large number of people were interested in finding out where our cheese comes from and how it is made." The cheese manufacturer attended TC Leipzig for the first time and was delighted that so many interested people visited their stand. "Some people were already familiar with the cheese while others wanted to find out about it. That was marvellous." Regional delicacies were available at Andre Ziert, owner of the snack bar Röster aus Thüringen (Roster from Thuringia). He served up real Thuringian grilled sausages. "We always had pleasant visitors on our stand and were delighted that our sausages proved to be so popular. The exhibition was well-organised and there was a pleasant atmosphere."
The next Touristik & Caravaning will take place in Leipzig from 20 to 24 November 2024.
